Bahamian ballerina Courtney Spears over this past weekend successfully held her 1st ArtSea Dance Convention that focused on bridging the gap between rising artists within the Caribbean and the booming dance industry around the world! The conference which was held at The British Colonial Hilton along with Spears featured international dance celebrities such as Gabriel Hyman, Courtney Ross, Larissa Gerszke, Shannen O’Neill and Renee Robison (special guest artist).
Dance students that attended the convention ranged from juniors to seniors who were treated to world class instruction in 4 Genres of Dance, A Body and Wellness Workshop and also were given key information on how you can take dancing to a university scholarship. A conference like this was much needed in the country who has an ever growing dance industry, and dance is now being touted as a viable career for students in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

I AM SPEECHLESS. I AM OVERWHELMED. This project took a village and now that village is a beautifully connected family. Thank you so much to my staff and volunteers for giving so much of your time and energy. To my faculty, you have inspired so many people this weekend with your gifts and I am forever grateful… And to my ArtSea babies, I miss all of you already. Your spirits are forever with me and will carry me through this entire year until we meet again. Never stop being the hungry, resilient, and curious artists that you are. I promise that I will stop at nothing to ensure that you all have the chance to live your wildest dreams.
