With just one click of the mouse and tap of the finger, Theodore Elyett (Theodore Sealy) has dropped our jaws and tantalized our eyes over the years on social media. The “love” button is linked to his every design.
This Bahamian fashion designer’s unique taste and mastery of his craft continue to blow us away one Swarovski crystal – one flounce – one shoulder dress at a time. He is brilliant… and now the whole world knows! They also know he’s one of us. He’s Bahamian!
It’s not every day that a Bahamian fashion designer would have his/her work displayed in the home of Queen Elizabeth II – Buckingham Palace. Well, um,… except for Theodore Elyett! He has every right to brag, but I’ll do it for him.
He is one of many designers from 53 countries throughout the Commonwealth to participate in the inaugural Commonwealth Fashion Exchange held in London, England last week.
Designers and artisans were selected to represent their various countries in what is being described as a seamless weaving together of talent in the fashion world throughout the Commonwealth.
The exchange, was hosted at a Buckingham Palace reception by the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Kate and Princess Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Fashion royalty figures, Vogue editors Dame Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful were also among those hosting the Commonwealth designers.
The exhibition will also be featured at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London this April; and designs were also featured in a public exhibition at Australia House on February 21st.
Theodore Elyett – Bahamian son – continues to etch his genius on the world stage – representing The Bahamas with excellence and utmost class. He makes all Bahamians proud!
