If you’re an avid internet user like most people these days, chances are you’ve seen a Buzzfeed article, video or quiz floating around the interwebs. Garnering over 166 million unique global views a month Buzzfeed is no doubt a powerhouse when it comes to getting web traffic. That’s why it’s an impressive feat that 25-year-old Bahamian freelance writer Carissa Rho was featured yesterday on the site.
The reason for her feature?
Miniature food. Yup, miniature food. Rho creates tiny replicas of food from clay that are so lifelike I spent a solid 30 minutes looking at pictures wondering if they were edible despite knowing you can’t eat clay. And just so you get an idea of exactly how tiny they are, picture slices of cheesecakes, coconut tarts, and plates of sushi and souse all around the same size of a Bahamian 5 cent coin. So cool!
When asked about the process of Buzzfeed reaching out, Rho says that it happened really quickly. A friend of hers on Facebook saw her pieces and showed order phentermine low prices those at Buzzfeed her work, the rest was history. When she found out she was featured Rho said she was freaking out
“This was Buzzfeed,” she exclaimed. “I was extremely nervous but excited at the same time.” The exposure has brought positive responses not only to Rho but to The Bahamas at large. Often we’re highlighted for the wrong reasons so it’s extremely refreshing to see Bahamians placing us on the map for the right reasons. As for what’s next in Rho’s life? She says despite being a writer she would love to create her miniatures full time. Ultimately she says as long as she can live comfortably doing what she loves it’s a win. “It’s a new chapter for me,” she says.
