He brought us hit songs like “Burma Road,” “Married Man,” “Age Ain’t Nuttin’ But a Number” and many others, and now the Godfather of Bahamian music Ronnie Butler is being internationally recognized for his amazing body of work. Last month the Bahamian legend was inducted into the Caribbean Hall of Fame in Kingston, Jamaica. He is the fourth Bahamian to earn the distinction now joining the ranks of Sir Lynden O. Pindling, Sir Sidney Poitier and Eddie Minnis.
Ronnie was unable to travel to the special gala event at the Jamaica Pegasus on October 25, to receive his award so last week a special ceremony was held for him at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture where Minister Danny Johnson formally presented him with his plaque.
Also nominated in the Caribbean Hall of Fame music category along with Mr. Butler were: Shaggy, Beenie Man, and Taurus Riley
Mr. Butler’s distinguished musical career has spanned decades since he was 16-years-old.
Just in case you have never heard a Ronnie Butler song …. #thereYaGo
