More than likely most of you under the age of 20 have never heard of Joseph Spence or Tony “Exuma” Mckay …. but these two men are Bahamian musical legends who are this month being remembered by the curators of DoonGalik Studios (Village Rd.) with an art show that features some of the memorabilia of these 242 music impresarios. The elife 242 team took the time to view the exhibition this week which features old records, newspaper clippings, music clips, video footage, and a few contemporary artists impression of both the men. It feels like a walk back in time as the music of Joseph Spence and Mckay fill the hall ways of DoonGalik Studios as the visual stimulation of all of the artwork fires off all of your sensory organs. If you are a 242 history buff you will definitely enjoy this exhibition, but we here at eLIFE 242 recommend it to everyone. Go and see how the musical efforts of these two men has affected the musical scene all over the world.
