Have you ever been to a party that was so good, it felt like you were in a different world? One that made your heat skip a thousand beats, made you dance to songs you didn’t even like or haven’t heard in years and made you never want to go home? Well, if you have most likely it was a party hosted by Supa Mario Entertainment because it seems like no one else could throw a party like them.
Now, when it comes to throwing a party worth talking about weeks after it happened, it seems like Mario “Supa Mario” Major has the Midas touch. He’s been known to throw some of the biggest and baddest parties to ever touch Nassau, proving to everyone that he’s not just a one trick pony.
“We don’t know what it is to flop,” he said.
While he could now boast of national success, Supa Mario said it hasn’t been an easy road since 2005, as he has had to pump time, effort and of course money into creating what he calls his “brand.”
“It started small,” he said. “It started years ago with a few dollars and an idea. I just had to get my name going and work on the branding and marketing side of it. So I put my name on a few events, sponsored a few stuff.
“After doing so, I decided to have my own. In April 2008, my first birthday bash was thrown.”
A DJ at heart, Supa Mario got his start in the party-throwing business with a party in 2006 at the Hard Rock Café, and then, the rest was history.
From there it was party after party, with each one topping it’s predecessors’ success.
Now, this is the party that I envy most.
How is it that a single man is able to get an entire island (nearly) to celebrate his birthday with him?
I mean, we all have birthdays and maybe birthday parties, but are they nearly as glamorous as Supa Mario’s?
Uh…NO!!
So what’s this recipe to success that Supa Mario obviously has hidden away in a vault that only he has the key to?
He said it’s all about the basics.
**Anyone wanting to get in the party promoting business should take notes now!**
“Marketing,” he said. “Strategic marketing is like the primary resource and foundation of any good business when it comes to entertainment.
“People remember stuff as long as you treat it the right way and you touch people in that sense. Marketing is not just putting something on the radio and expecting it to work. It’s touching people and reaching out and letting them not just go to a party but giving them something they can enjoy and take away from that something away from.”
So after you’ve mixed in one cup of marketing, Supa Mario said you then have to add in a teaspoon of success-driven colleagues.
“Make sure goal driven people and people who want success are around you and helping you along the way,” Supa Mario said. “If you’re not around successful people you fall off, that’s why people get lucky, have one good party and then they fall off.”
So if you’ve been paying attention, which you should have, you would’ve learned that a part of the recipe to party promoting success is: one cup of marketing, a teaspoon of success driven-colleagues. And then?
“Become a figure in society, when people see that in you,” he advised. “Make sure you’re good with people and you’re a people person, perception is half reality and it’s all about character.
“It’s the extended arm I try to reach out to people and I think that what’s keep them coming back it’s never about us,” he added. “A lot of people throw a good party and haul tail, I always take the time out to say thank you.”
He said it’s the little things that count when becoming a pioneer in this game, and with a support system of friends, family and even other DJs and promoters in the industry, there’s just no stopping him now.
Now in this recipe for party success, (while it’s needed) Supa Mario never once mentioned money, fame or bling.
“God has a lot to do with it,” he said.
