Four months later and many Bahamians are still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Dorian. Many are still trying to piece their lives back together and many are still grieving unimaginable loss.
And while Bahamians from all over the world, from all walks of life are doing what they can to ease the burden at this time, local artists are doing their part to spread love, drop a brand new collab and prove that we are #BahamasStrong.
Kairos, a new female musical duo, recently joined forces with Bahamian hitmakers Wendi, Dyson Knight, Chase Fernander, Sleepy Lexx and PDillon for the release of their debut track, entitled “This Is Love,” a tribute to those we lost in the storm.
Kairos is made up of business partners, Angel Alei & Zaafira who have been working behind the scenes on their music and gearing up for a few huge releases, but felt compelled to postpone those projects, to work on “This Is Love.”
“This Is Love is a song that Kairos began writing in the wake of the devastating storm. We reached out to our friends in the music industry, each bringing their own feelings on what happened in our country. Effectively creating the emotionally provoking song, This Is Love. The song showcases a vast variety of emotions & perspectives, but none hits home more than that of PDillon, the rapper and Abaco native, who actually survived the storm!
“Working on this song was the perfect way to vent all my feelings about the storm. As a survivor this song really resonated with me because it shows that we really need to come together and show love.”– PDillon, Recording Artist & Hurricane Survivor
The visuals for the song add even more depth and feeling to the lyrics and music we hear.
“I did this collaboration because I felt the need to have a voice in the task of maintaining some sensitivity and compassion for people that experience unexpected and unavoidable lost as did those that lost due to Hurricane Dorian. The direction of this song won my support because it spoke to the pain as well as the promise of a unified front to comfort and restore the strength of a people with out trivializing their plight.”- Dyson Knight, Baha Men
“This Is Love is a beautiful lament song for the tragedy that was Hurricane Dorian. What drew me to wanting to do this song, is the fact that one of the artists survived the tragedy. So being a part of this project felt closer to home. I’m happy the song turned out so beautifully and I hope that we can all cry and grieve together and push forward in love.” – Wendi, Award Winning Recording Artist
The track was created by local prodigies Yontell & Yonzell Clare. These brothers lend their talent to this song and create sounds that truly complements each artist’s style and vocals.
